Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband has awarded Knowsley -based Warmer Heating with a carbon footprint award.
The organisation was involved with transforming a three bedroom house within the North East into a more environment friendly show home.
In partnership with South Tyneside Homes, Warmer Heating has installed green technology into the house, located in the Lukes Lane estate in Hebburn, including solar panels to power the water heating system, cavity wall and loft insulation to preserve heat within the house and cut energy bills by up to a third.
The project is being rolled out in 75 houses on the estate, with Warmer Heating leading on installation.
The renewable energy show house, officially launched in South Tyneside last week, was the regional winner of National Energy Action's footprint award, which recognises the work being done by organisations working to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon.
Warmer Heating, which is also based in the North East, is a contractor for Community Energy Solutions, which assist households off the gas network by assisting with funding for renewable technologies, with Warmer Heating carrying out the installations.
Warmer Heating also operate in partnership with Eaga, the organisation tasked with managing the warm front grant scheme for the Department of Energy and Climate Change for those receiving income or disability benefit payments.
Bryan Glendinning, of Warmer Heating, said: "Coming at the end of a week when the government has announced grants to help pay to make your home greener it has never been easier to show how you can reduce your home's carbon footprint. We are delighted to be part of this award-winning project and to be continuing our commitment to leading the way in making the heating industry a green industry."
Knowsley Chamber Chairman Martin Walsh Says "We are delighted that Warmer Heating have joined the growing number of Knowsley based companies being awarded for their efforts to reduce energy consumption and lower the carbon footprint."
